Mangaluru, Mar 26: In a case relating to the accident of a vehicle that was illegally carrying cows, in which 19 cows had died, the court of the chief judicial magistrate has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on all the five accused.
Hussain Katipalla, who was cattle dealer, Muhammed Ashraf, who was driving the vehicle, Abdul Razack, Kulai Hussain, and Jia-Ul-Haq received this punishment.
The Tata 407 tempo in which cattle were loaded and being illegally transported on April 7, 2012 morning, had tumbled by the roadside on Urwa Store - Kottara Chowki road.
In this accident, which is said to have occurred due to reckless driving, 18 out of 30 cows in the vehicle had died on the spot. All the 12 other cows had suffered injuries, and one of them had died when being taken to hospital.
Senior public prosecutor, Uggemar Srinivas Hegde, had presented the case on behalf of the prosecution.
