Mangaluru, Mar 25: In a case of attempt to murder, a man was hit with a heavy stone by an unidentified person in the early hours of Wednesday March 25.
The incident is said to have occured at around 1 am at Mannagudda, but came to light in the morning.
Nagaraj Prabhu (40), a resident of Katipalla, was sleeping in front of a service centre at Mannagudda when someone hit him with a heavy stone on the head.
Miraculously, despite a lot of loss of blood, Nagaraj was found to be alive in the morning and shifted to Wenlock hospital. His condition is said to be critical.
It is learnt that Nagaraj recently came out of the jail where he was lodged for theft cases. he faces several cases of theft in Suratkal police station, sources said.
Sources said that his family had rejected him and hence he was living on the streets.
Barke police rushed to spot and registered a case.
