Tumakuru, Mar 24: Fans and well-wishers of IAS officer D K Ravi, whose sudden death caused a furore in the state, have decided to honour their hero by building a memorial for him.
If all goes well, the memorial building will come up in his hometown Doddakoppalu in Kunigal taluk, at the spot where D K Ravi was laid to rest.
The memorial will be built so that the future generations would remember D K Ravi for his upright, fearless approach to work and the ideals he followed, say his fans.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the IAS officer's fans and well-wishers from Tumakuru, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and other places, after they converged at his grave to pay him homage.
The fans will soon meet chief minister Siddaramaiah and submit a proposal in this regard. Once the state government gives its nod, Ravi's fans and well-wishers will themselves build the memorial.
Also, a meeting will be called soon were opinions of activists and experts concerned will be sought and the project will be given a shape.
Venkatesh, a fan from Kolar, said that the proposal would be also discussed with D K Ravi's family and their consent will be sought.
D K Ravi, who had taken on the sand and land mafia, was found hanging at his residence in Bengaluru on March 16. The state government ordered a CID probe into the case the next day, but after intense pressure from all sides and the intervention of Congress president, the CM Siddaramaiah announced CBI probe into the death on Monday March 23.
