Mangaluru, Mar 22: Cracking down on vehicles, especially buses that use high decibel horns indiscriminately, the city traffic police on Sunday March 17 intercepted over 35 buses near Light House Hill and fined more than 26 of them.
This was the third time this month that the city traffic police undertook this task on the order of city traffic ACP Udaya Nayak.
Speaking to daijiworld, ACP Udaya Nayak said, "We are doing these regular check on the order from higher authorities. It is a continuous process.
"Not just buses, but all vehicles are being checked and fined for various violations, including use of shrill horns, not having licence or insurance, not wearing seat belts etc," he added.
Guru Kamath, Mangaluru city Bunder traffic police inspector and his team conducted the operation.
Speaking to media Guru Kamath said that last time the operation was held in Lalbagh, Kottara, Ladyhill, Ballalbagh and other area.
