Mangaluru, Mar 20: A splendid ceremony marked the annual day celebrations of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor here on Friday, March 20.
Students who achieved laurels in various spheres like sports, cultural activities and academics were honoured by the commissioner of police S Murugan and general manager of Corporation Bank C J Pinto on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Murugan said, “Keeping abreast with the latest technology is a big challenge for us but the students of present generations are adept with them. Technology changes everything. No person can become a successful engineer unless he or she is a disciplined and systematic person”.
Speaking on the occasion, C J Pinto spoke about the 'Green Revolution' and said, “The Green Revolution refers to a series of research, development and technology transfer initiatives, occurring in 1940s and late 1960s, that increased agricultural production worldwide, particularly in the developing world, beginning most markedly in the late 1960s”.
He also said IT sector has made a huge impact and is providing employment for youths. He pointed out that students have to achieve their goals and should be the role models for others.
Director in charge, Fr Ajith Menezes welcomed the guests. Principal Dr Joseph Gonsalvis read out the annual report.
On the occasion, the commissioner of police S Murugan was felicitated.
Vice-principal Dr Rio D'Souza, Fr Rohith D'Costa and others were present for the function.
