She took part in the prestigious Campus Princess 2015 pageant and was crowned as the Campus Princess of India-2015. This is how she got direct entry into Miss India 2015.
Fashion ABCD, the fashion event management and model, celebrity management company is confident of Aafreen winning the crown and making Mangaluru proud.
Apart from modelling, Aafreen Vaz has varied interests which include reading, writing, dancing and public speaking. She believes that one should be one's own best friend and that a woman should possess confidence, compassion and charisma. "She shoul have confidence in who she is and her choices, and have compassion for every living being around her. Every woman has charisma, it is just a matter of radiating it out," she says.
She is passionate about modelling and says 'walking the ramp and owning it' gives her a high. Having migrated to New Zealand some years ago where she attended college, she holds overseas citizenship of India (OCI), and wishes she could vote in her own homeland.
As budding doctor, she aims to educate the rural women of the country on the importance of health checkups and self-examinations. "Once educated, they can help with early detection of diseases like breast cancer and treatment becomes more effective. In a huge country like ours, I would consider this life-changing and life-saving education for many," she says.
Her advice to the youth of today is, "Follow your dreams and no one else's. If it is truly something you desire you will find a way to get there, attempts don't matter once you have achieved."
Here's wishing Aafreen good luck for the grand finale of Femina Miss India!
