Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (RJP)

Puttur, Mar 16: Two children who were poisoned by their own mother on Saturday March 14 have survived miraculously. It is said that they have moved away from the their previous critical conditions.

Shreemathi alias Bhoomika (29), a resident of Bellichadavu in Eshwaramangala of Nettanige Mudnoor village in Puttur taluk had committed suicide at her parental home on Saturday. But before ending her life by consuming poison, she also had fed her little daughters, Ashika (5) and Sushmita (3) with poison.

The relatives who came to know about the incident had broken open the house to take the mother and daughters to the hospital.

Shreemathi, who was taken to the Puttur hospital in critical condition died there later in the same day. The little children were shifted to Mangaluru in critical condition.

The conditions of both children, who were treated at Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru, are improving and they are out of danger.

Shreemathi had married Rajesh from Muigere in Chikkamagaluru district about seven years back. After her marriage, she continued to stay at her parental home and later bore two children. Rajesh, who worked in Hassan presently, visited his family in Eshwaramangala once a week.

The reason for the suicide is not yet known. Rural police inspector, Anil Kulkarni, is leading the investigation.

Meanwhile the body of the deceased was handed over to the family members on Sunday after post mortem. The deceased is survived by mother, two recovering daughters and a brother who has relocated recently from a foreign country.

Nice to hear about speedy recovery of children ,thanks to the medicals staff.Only very sad they have to survive without mother from now ,in this Age they Need mother very badly.Hope they dont have any remaining side effects of consuming (FROM MOTHER)poison.why does People consult someone before they take drastic step,go to their children poison before suecide themselves.Children are afterall innocent and last a victim of their parents.get well you Little angels.Hope they will be treated well from relatives, because in some instances relatives hate children saying they have finished their mother and now come to finish others. It is not a joke but in many Familys it happened.again children have to move later if step mother or relatives dont lookafter them good.so childrens helpline should Keep a eye on These children.

Sad for the mother but am thankful that the little angels survived. True that it will be difficult for the tots to live a normal life without their mother but great that their life is not lost.

I want to call upon people who were arguing that other religions invade their faith and cause damage. Please concentrate on matters such as this. Mothers kill their daughters, fathers thrash their daughters in public, adult men abuse little children, rapes increase and attacks on other religions on the rise - common people - look around !

Understand the need to help each other, call upon the religious heads to contribute towards improving the society than instigate divisions.

    Sorry ! RIP Shreemathi.

    Hold your horses Ma'm.
Its easy to pick and point out mistakes on others religion.

Do you mean to say none of the things pointed by you happen in your religion?
You hail your religion. No problem, but stop downgrading other religions.
May the Lord bestow better brains to you.

    Shankar,

If you read Lydia Lobo's statement correctly, she is trying to say don't blame everything based on religion. Look at things in a human point of view.

    Lydya,
You are the only one perfect creation in this world and your religion is the best one in this world.
"Mothers kill their daughters, fathers thrash their daughters in public, adult men abuse little children, rapes increase and attacks on other religions on the rise - common people - look around !"
Your advise for others! it never happens in your holy religion.

In India, if religious intolerance is growing, it is because of people like you.
Correct yourself I dont know your age, but age doesn't matter if you have a will. When you change, world changes- for better.

    Shankar,

Forget my name and take me as a woman and now tell me where in the news I told that my religion is superior than yours ?

Nevertheless, do the problems listed by me exist in the society or not and couldn't they have been avoided if our approach was different ?

    Dr. Baliga,

True - it shouldn't be let to pass without giving a mention to the doctors who worked day/night to save the girls. Certainly, a heart-full gratitude.

However, are we to say the same when the mother is referenced ? How come its in the hands of God as/when it suits ?

Nevertheless, are we to disregard accident cases when doctors refused to touch a victim because there was no police report or when a dead body was held ransom until the bill is cleared, or when a (dead) patient is loaded onto an ambulance and sent to a different hospital to evade blame of death ? Or, a case is thoroughly subjected un/required tests just because the revenue is coming from an insurance firm (to which payer is none other than the victim) ?

Or, a famous abuse of profession when doctor parents switched vaginal swab of their own daughter, perhaps to hide that she wasn't a virgin or the traces that found there may damage their family reputation ?

Apologies to the grieving family that I had to take up all this, which was definitely solicited, not purposeful !

And, apologies to the fraternity of medicine too, because, upon you I rest my trust, its on your table I must end up when in need. Hope the trust of those who rely on you professionals is honored, not taken for granted.
