Mangaluru, Mar 13: The much-awaited Tulu family entertainer 'Soombe' was released on Friday March 13 at Jyothi theatre in Mangaluru.
'Soombe' movie released in 12 theatres - Jyothi theatre, PVR, Cinepolis and Big Cinemas in Mangaluru; Radhika theatre and Planet theatres in Karkala, and also in theatres of Udupi, BC Road, Puttur, Manipal, Moodbidri and Beltangady.
Roy Castelino, the president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp.
Addressing the gathering, Roy said, "This is a historic day for Tulu industry. This and the coming years will be the golden years for the industry. It is a proud moment for all of us. Tulu artistes have shown us that they can make their living or survive through Tulu language. I hope this movie will run for more than 100 days."
Shritama Mukherjee, heroine of the film, addressing the gathering called upon everyone to watch the film. She said she liked Mangaluru city and she is learning Tulu language.
Director Saikrishna Kudla, Producer Kishore Kottari, Lead actor of the movie Rahul, Ashwith Kottari, Producer Shwetha, music director Edberg Dilone, Prasanna Shetty Bailuru, Umanath Kotian, Chaali Polilu movie producer Prakash Pandeshwar, Navin D Padil, Divakar Shetty, Jagannath Bala, Arvind Bolar, Karnur Mohan and others were also present on this occasion.
About the movie
Soombe movie, directed by Saikrishna Kudla and produced by Kishor Kottari and Shwetha K Kottari under the banner of Sri Yajnadhya Productions, is full of entertainment and is a family film. The movie is a fine blend of comedy, love, action and drama.
Sandalwood comedians Bullet Prakash and Biradhar have acted in the movie in addition to Tulu comedians Devadas Kapikad, Navin D Padil, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Aravind Bolar, Sai Krishna and Prasanna Bailoor. The screenplay is totally different compared to other Tulu films.
For the first time Devadas Kapikad has sung for the film. The music has been scored by Edberg Dilone and the lyrics are penned by Shashiraj Rao Kavoor. Rahul Amin plays the male lead while Shritama Mukherjee plays the female protagonist. The film has been produced at a budget of Rs one crore.
