Mumbai, 6 Mar: Justices Ranjit More and Anuja Prabhudessai passed an order on the 2nd of March that clearly stated that actress Deepika Padukone was not to be arrested with regards to the AIB case, until her petition was presented in court. The petition is scheduled for a hearing on the 16th of March.
Deepika had put forward two petitions at Tardeo Police station, where in she sought to squash the FIR's against the volatile content of the show. Her lawyer Ameet Nayak, defended the actress saying that she was only present as an audience and not part of the show and she did not speak anything bad about anyone either.
The actress who was among the thousands to attend the AIB roast that had been shared on YouTube late last year, has been facing the heat of public for the bad language used on the show. Many sections of the nation's populace came forward to speak up against the 'trash' spoken on a platform that is accessible to the youth and children who are wont to learn the filth being bandied about.
Director Karan Johar who was the roast master of the show, and actors Arjun Kapoor and Ranvir Singh who were the ones who got roasted at the show are also facing similar charges for bad language. The other panellists were Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi, Abish Matthew, Ashish Shakya, Rajeev Masand, Aditi Mittal and Raghuram. Actress Alia Bhatt and Sonakshi Sinha too are being charged for being present and part of the show, however remote.
The FIRs were filed based on the complaint made by Santosh Daundkar.
