Udupi, Feb 27: Dr Raghupathi Acharya (55), who belonged to Yellur Kudure Acharya family near Padubidri and native of Kemundelu,who was working as gazetted officer in the department of animal husbandry and veterinary services, died due to cardiac arrest when discharging duties on Wednesday February 26.
Dr Acharya has left behind mother, wife, a son, and a daughter.
Dr Raghupathi Acharya had served at different places when in service like Kalghatagi, Murdeshwar, Nitte, and Padubidri. He had undergone heart-related surgery a few years back. He was popular among the diary farmers, as he was readily accessible, and was prepared to serve the needy at any time of the day.
It is learnt that he had gone to Padebettu village after he received a call for his services. There, he complained of breathing difficulty. Although arrangements were immediately made to take him to a private hospital in Udupi, he had passed away before reaching the hospital.
He was very much interested in extending veterinary services to rural places, and was trying to get a veterinary hospital opened in Padubidri, it is said.
