Bengaluru, February 20: Raising finances is of great interest to all of us. To enlighten its members on this aspect, Kanara Entrepreneurs, Bangalore organized a talk on 'raising smart money', by an eminent speaker from Canada, Craig Shugart.
He spoke on the various points of view from the investor’s perspective. Business ethics, frankness, passion and integrity are few of the aspects that an investor would be looking for before investing. Craig also suggested ways and means on how to source funds for starting or expanding existing businesses. The main economy and work force of any country is generated by the SME sector and more and more investors are looking for good companies to invest, he stressed. The program was well attended and participated by KE members and guests. The talk concluded with a question/answer session which was the highlight of the evening.
During his address, Mark D’souza, president of KE Bangalore mentioned the benefits that are available for KE members and informed members to take complete advantage. Vivon Pinto, excellently compered the whole program, while Nigel Fernandes introduced the speaker in his one inimitable style. George Timothy proposed a lively vote of thanks.
About the Speaker:
Craig was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He has a degree in chemical engineering (Toronto), a certificate in professional studies in education
(Bradford, UK), and an executive MBA (Toronto).
Craig has been engaged in a professional and business capacity in Asia, the Arab world, Latin America, Europe, and Africa for over 3 ½ decades,
including 16 years in Pakistan, India, Nepal and Bangladesh.
In 1998, Craig initiated and led the development of Ibex International Associates, an innovative global business that provides investment capital, facilitates the deployment of entrepreneurs and business professionals, and provides mentoring, coaching and consulting services for small to medium sized (SME) companies across North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. He has served as chairman of the Ibex Board of Directors until 2003 and as CEO of Ibex from 2003 until the present. Ibex has invested in more than 40 companies in the SME sector, in over a dozen industry sectors in 19 countries across the Arab world and Asia.
