Bantwal, Feb 18: Chaitra (19), daughter of Sankappa Saphalya from Kulalu in Kolnad village, and Mahesh (25), son of Seetha from Kotikere near Kashimutt in Vittal Casba village, both of whom had gone missing four days ago from their homes, presented themselves at Subrahmanya police station on Tuesday February 17. They said they had married and become life partners.
Both had left their homes for work on February 13. After they went missing, and efforts to trace them failed, Seetha and Sankappa Saphalya had filed missing complaints in police station on Monday.
It is said that both of them were in love with each other since a year. However, Chaitra's family members were against this relationship, and they had planned to conduct the marriage of Chaitra with another boy, Mahesh told the police.
The couple said they together went to Dharmasthala after leaving their homes and married there. From there they came to Subrahmanya. After reading in newspapers about the filing of their missing complaints, they went to Subrahmanya police station and explained everything to the policemen there.
Policemen from Vittal station went too Subrahmanya and brought the couple here. They talked to both the families. As the girl insisted on accompanying Mahesh, she was allowed to do so,it is gathered.
