Bangladesh will be under pressure: Afghan skipper

Canberra, Feb 17 (IANS): Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi said Tuesday that it would be Bangladesh, and not them, who would be under pressure going into the World Cup Pool A encounter Wednesday.

It will be the first game for both the sides as they meet at the Manuka Oval here. But Nabi insists his side will be under no pressure whatsoever.

"Pressure is not on Afghanistan. Pressure is totally on Bangladesh," Nabi was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Afghanistan won the last One-Day International (ODI), when the two sides met, by 32 runs in the Asia Cup March 1, 2014. Almost a year later they have another chance of beating the same opponents in cricket’s biggest event.

However, standing in the way will be Bangladeshi opener Tamim Iqbal and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. "Yeah Tamim and Shakib are the most senior players for Bangladesh team," said Nabi.
