Mangaluru, Feb 17: BBM-M com padavidara sangathitha horata samithi organized a press meet at the press club on February 17 in the city.

M com graduates who have also cleared the NET(national eligibility test) which is a benchmark by UGC(university grants commission) thanked the legislators and ministers along with the officials of the higher education department for giving them the eligibility to teach commerce as a subject in the first grade colleges, even after pursuing bachelor of business management(BBM).

The representative of the lecturers Deekshith addressing the media persons at the press club today said, "As per the circular dates 12-2-2015 the state education department has given us the eligibility to teach commerce in the first grade level even after pursuing bachelor of business management(BBM) and bachelor of business administration."

"Even though our number was small, looking at the seriousness, of the problem the ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake, U T Khader, education minister, MLC Ivan Dsouza responded positively and wrote to the education department. We had also approached Karnataka administrative tribunal(KAT) for resolving the issue as no where in Karnataka we had the chance to teach commerce as a subject even after clearing NET after getting the M com degree."

"Thousands of students will be benefited from this decision of the education department in the future", he added.

The Root cause of the issue:

As per the UGC (university grants commission) for a person who wants to teach a subject in the first grade level he has to have a masters degree with 55 % aggregate. But as per the Karnataka higher education department a person has the chance to teach commerce as a subject only he if he has studied bachelor of commerce(B com) prior to doing master of commerce(M com). But from February 12, 2015 any BBM and BBA graduate can teach commerce as a subject in the first grade level after he comes to M com.
Similarly the circular solves the issues of the many MBA, MIB, MSc graduates in the state which has to be appreciated by all.

Arjun and other members of padavidara sangathitha horata samithi were also present at the press meet.
