Cuttack, Feb 16 (IANS): The Sumit Narwal-led Delhi attack bowled out Mumbai for 156 runs after electing to field on the first day of the Ranji Trophy quarter-final being played at the DRIEMS Ground, Tangi, here Monday.
While the pacer claimed both openers and later wrapped up the innings with the wicket of B. Sandhu, teammates Parvinder Awana and Manan Sharma also claimed two wickets each.
Pradeep Sangwan accounted for the key wicket of Suryakumar Yadav while Rajat Bhatia sent back Abhishek Nayar. Nikhil Patil was stranded on 54 as Mumbai's first innings ended in 81 overs.
Delhi were batting at 20/1 and trailing by 136 runs at the end of day's play. Skipper Gautam Gambhir was batting on five while Unmukt Chand was dismissed by Sandhu at the stroke of stumps.
At the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, Robin Uthappa’s 153 helped Karnataka to a comfortable position against Assam on Day 1 of the quarter-final. Asked to bat by Assam, Karnataka piled on 302/2 at the end of the first day. Lokesh Rahul scored 91.
At the Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli, Maharashtra were bundled out for 91 by the Siva Kumar-led attack. The Andhra bowler claimed 6/41 while Vijay Kumar took 2/29. In reply, Andhra were 87/3 and trailing by four runs at stumps.
In the fourth and last quarter-final at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Tamil Nadu were 234/4 at stumps on the first day after being asked to bat by Vidarbha.
