Mangaluru, Feb 16: A bus stop was inaugurated by Mahabala Maarla, Mayor Mangaluru city corporation at Kankanady here in Mangaluru on Febrary 16.
Mahabala Maarla inaugurated the bus stop and said, "I suggested to inaugurate this space after the bus stop was built here. The tender is notified. Once the tender is allocated the new bus stand will be built here. This is a joyful day for me as my teacher Leena Fernandes, ex principal of St Aloysius evening college, is here. If I have done any good work then a part of the credit will go to my teacher. I request people to make the municipality aware on issues so that we can take instant action."
Jerald Tower speaking on the occasion said, "In Mangaluru the traffic has increased drastically. Here in Kankanady traffic jams occur very often as the buses stop on the concrete road. Hence two residents of this area Walter and Joseph Martis approached the officials of Mangaluru City Corporation. After 3 months of effort they could not get any solution. So they approached the mayor Mahabala Maarla. He personally visited the spot and took neccessary action. As a result of this, new space is allocated for the bus stand".
Asha D'silva, corporator, Leena Fernandes, ex principal of St aloysius evening college and others were present at the event.
