Bantwal, Feb 12: Five students of a private school here fell ill on Wednesday February 11 afternoon, after consuming tablets distributed for treating the problem of intestinal parasites. It is said that they started vomitting suddenly consequent to consumption of tablets. They were treated at the government hospital here.
Explaining to media persons, Dr Surendranath said that the problem had arisen because of the consumption of tablets in empty stomach in the afternoon. He said that the students were treated and sent home, as there was no danger.
It is gathered that the health department had arranged for the distribution of these tablets to students with specific instruction to consume them at night after dinner before going to bed. These children overlooked this instruction and swallowed the tablets at school. More details are not known.
