Mumbai, Jan 12: The Small Christian Community celebrated its twentieth anniversary at St Jude Parish Jerimeri, Kurla (W) here, on Sunday January 7, on a grand scale. Bishop Bosco Penha of Mumbai was the main celebrant at the Eucharistic celebration. Parish priest Fr Michael D’Souza, Fr T O Jacob, Fr Lancy Pinto and Fr Victor Noronha, concelebrated the Mass.
Nearly 2500 people were present on the occasion. A rally of forty groups of people from five zones arrived at the church prior to the Mass.
Later in the day a cultural programme was held with Bishop Bosco Penha presiding over. He released a souvenir edited by Konkan Taram institute treasurer John Mascarenhas.
Fr O T Jacob, Fr Walter Pinto, Fr Blaze D’Mello, Fr John Almeida, Fr Lancy Pinto, Fr Bartholomeo Machado, Sr Seema and Sr Philomena, were honoured on the occasion, for their service to the community.
The ‘combo’ dance was performed by baby Valencia. Lata Appachchan’s troupe performed a Malayalam dance while Rani Fernando and group performed a Tamil dance. Jovila and group performed Irish Medley dance.
