Kalaburagi, Feb 10: The town had witnessed two murders on the night of Saturday February 7. Two persons, whose heads and faces were crushed with boulders, were found lying in two separate spots in the town on Sunday morning. In spite of efforts, the policemen were unable to establish their identities, particularly so because their faces were disfigured beyond recognition.
The police however, based on clues they got from footage of certain closed circuit television cameras, arrested Vikas Saibanna Bidanoor (19), and his friend, Shreeshaila Ramu Sarapancha (19). Both are unemployed and addicted to drinking. They have confessed to have committed this crime with the sole aim of getting money for satiating their urge to consume liquor urgently. It is gathered that they could get only Rs 30 from the pocket of the first person they murdered on Saturday night.
Station Bazar station inspector, Rajashekhara Halagodi, is investigating the case. The two, it is learnt, had also robbed some pedestrians money in a drunken state in the past, and were facing certain cases. While one of the victims on Saturday night was killed in his sleep by the roadside by dropping a boulder on his head and then crushing his face, another person, a pedestrian, was invited for a talk. On reaching a park, both of them sought money from him, and when he refused, he was killed, again by crushing his skull with a boulder. Although the second person was still alive when the ambulance picked him up, he had died before reaching the hospital. Hence, the police could not gather any information from the victims.
The police have invited people to establish the identities of the two persons who were killed, on the basis of the physical attributes.
