Brazil crowned South American beach soccer champions


Recife (Brazil), Feb 9 (IANS): Brazil's beach soccer men's national team beat Paraguay 12-2 in the final match of Recife 2015 Beach Soccer South American Cup, played in Playa do Pina here.

Despite Paraguays's undefeated record during the tournament and the previous 8-7 victory against Brazil, the hosts played brilliantly, showing exceptional defending skills juxtaposed with deadly attacking Sunday, reports Xinhua.

The first goal for Brazil was scored by Rodrigo Vieira, while Daniel Gabriel scored two goals and Datinha scored one more to the end of the first half 4-0 to Brazil.

In the second half, Sydney, Bruno Xavier, Fernando, Rodrigo, Datinha and Daniel scored six goals for Brazil.

Paraguayans only scored two goals -- one by Juan Lopez and the other one by Wilson Rodriguez.

At the end, Brazilians Datinha and Daniel scored two more to end the match 12-2.

Brazilian Rafinha was chosen as the tournament's best player, while Bruno Xavier became the top scorer with 10 goals. The best goalkeeper was Chilean Echeverria.

Argentina won third place after defeating Chile in the play-off.
