Bengaluru, Feb 8: A person, who went to torch the shop of his rival because of professional rivalry suffered from serious burn injuries. Ashok from Amruthhalli here was admitted into a hospital with serious burn injuries in this incident.
Policemen said that the incident occurred when Ashok went to nearby Bhuvaneshwari Nagar in the early hours on Saturday February 7 to set another shop ablaze.
Ashok is running a vegetables shop in the area. About six months ago, a person named Somashekhar opened a vegetables shop next to that of Ashok. Somashekhar's shop picked up brisk business within a short period, a fact which Ashok could not digest. Ashok torched Somashekhar's shop on Saturday morning, and when trying to flee thereafter, he stumbled upon something and fell down. As a result, fire spread and he suffered from burns.
Policemen on night beat called the fire brigade and admitted Ashok into a hospital. They also doused the flames. Ashok confessed that he was the one who started fire in his rival's shop. The police said they would arrest Ashok once he is discharged from hospital.
