Police recover red sandalwood worth Rs 65 lac from Hoskote

Bengaluru, Feb 5: The policemen, who raided four spots in Kattigenahalli village of Hoskote taluk near here, have unearthed 2,166 kg of red sandalwood worth Rs 65 lac from these places.

Acting on reliable information, a police team led by deputy superintendent of police, Balarame Gowda, acting under the guidance of rural district superintendent of police, Ramesh Banot, undertook these raids.

Pieces of red sandalwood were seen to have been concealed behind houses, thickets etc. Owners of these lands have gone missing presumably to avoid getting arrested. The poilce have learnt that red sandalwood had been smuggled into this place from Andhra Pradesh and stored here for onward transportation to another destination.

Thirumalashettihalli police circle inspector, Satish, and sub-inspector, Balaji Babu, were involved with the raids.
