Bengaluru, Feb 5: In an incident which occurred on Wednesday February 4 at the legislative council here, state minister for sports, Abhay Chandra Jain, addressed leader of the opposition from BJP, K S Eshwarappa, in singular and termed him 'incapable'.
BJP members took sides with their leader to launch an attack on Jain, while Congress legislators stood by their minister. Chaos reigned supreme in the council after both started to hurl abuses against each other.
When condemning the government's action in barring entry for Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader, Praveen Bhai Togadia, into the city, Eshwarappa said that the Congress government is trying to turn autocratic at the advice of Sonia Gandhi. 'In the past, Indira Gandhi had imposed the state of emergency on the country. Now, Siddaramaiah government, at the instance of Sonia, is trying to bring emergency back, he added.
Jain, overtaken by anger at the mention of party leader, Sonia Gandhi, shouted at Eshwarappa in singular, terming him as incapable. The BJP leaders jumped to their feet to condemn Jain for behaving irreverently, irrespective of being a minister. During the discussions, V Somanna criticized the government, which he said, is supporting Madani, but barring entry of Togadia. Home minister, K J George, clarified that the government is not supporting or opposing anyone. He said that the police had taken this decision in the interests of law and order.
