Bidar, Feb 1: M C Biradar, judge of the additional district and sessions court here, was suspended from service on the date of his retirement. He was to retire on Saturday January 31 and he was suspended the same day. Because of the suspension, the retirement benefits accruing to him cannot be disbursed till the inquiry is completed.
The order of suspension had been issued by the state high court registrar general, B A Patil, on Friday.
It is said that the vigilance cell of the high court had observed that Biradar was involved with corrupt practices relating to granting of bail in cases coming before him. It had asked the judge of the district and sessions court, Hanchate Sanjeev Kumar, to look into the issues and send a report. On the basis of the report, the order of suspension was issued, it is gathered.
It is said that the high court examined orders passed in over 400 cases during the last three months which included cases relating to land acquisition, criminal, and protection of children from sexual offences act cases. A number of irregularities had been observed in handling of these cases on the basis of which the judge was kept under suspension.
However, it is gathered that no one had filed any official complaint against the judge concerned.
