Kasargod: Woman dies, another injured in explosion at quarry

Kasargod, Jan 31: A woman worker died and another woman sustained injuries in an explosion at a black stone quarry at Maniyammare near Perla here on Saturday January 31.

The deceased has been identified as Badiadka Nellikatte resident Sita (40). Another woman, identified as Usha was injured in the incident.

The women were working in the quarry when the incident took place.

Stones and mud collapsed in the explosion and fell on the women. Though they were pulled out from the debris, Sita had already died by then.

It is said that lack of precautions by the quarry owner caused the accident.
