Karkala, Jan 28: Union law minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, has said that legal fight against the state chief minister relating to denotification of land in connection with Arkavaty Extension in Bengaluru will continue. He was answering questions raised by media persons during his visit to the town to witness Mahamastakabhisheka of Gomateshwara here on Tuesday January 27.
'There are three avenues available for any political struggle. First of all, the issue is placed before the populace. The second one is fighting it out inside and out of the legislature, and third is through courts. We have already placed the issues before the people and brought the issue before the legislative council. The legal fight which has been launched will continue,' he stated.
He also advised the states which point fingers at the central government relating to re-conversion initiatives, to first adopt anti-conversion laws in their respective states.
He asked areca nut growers not to be unduly perturbed about the prospects of enforcing ban on consumption of areca nut. 'I have already held two rounds of talks with the health minister on this issue. Further information will be collected from the research centre at Chennai and other sources. We will file affidavit containing exhaustive details in the case,' he explained.
In response to another query, he felt that the standing of India will get a boost with the visit of Obama. 'Because of investor-friendly steps taken by us, the country is being viewed as a promising destination by global investors,' he felt.
About Kasturirangan report, he said the states had been asked to file detailed reports, as the said report has solely depended on satellite-based details. The state government has sent report by collecting some materials from the officials. We have asked the state to again provide details aftter taking gram panchayat members, locals, people's representatives etc into confidence, and to provide supportive details to see that people do not encounter problems on the basis of the contents of the report, he added.
Legislators, Ganesh Karnik and Sunill Kumar, and BJP district president, Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde, as well as several others were present with Gowda.
