Mangaluru, Jan 26: In connection with a recent incident in which a gang had entered the house of woman, posed life threats to her, and damaged a motor bike parked outside, the police have arrested seven persons.
It was claimed that on the night of January 22, a gang had entered the house of a woman named Savitri at Mulki, hurled abuses at her, and posed life threats besides damaging a motor bike parked outside. The gang reportedly was angry for being asked to remove a motor bike parked opposite the house. Savitri in her complaint, had said that a 20-member gang had gatecrashed into her house that night.
The persons now arrested are Amir, Safran, Niaz, Hafiz,Akbar, Nissar, and Anwar. It may be recalled that alleging police inaction, BJP activists under the leadership of district vice president, Umanath Kotian, had held protest demonstration opposite Mulki police station alleging policy of Hindu oppression by police, and warning the police of stronger action if the accused are not arrested within a day.
The arrested were produced in the court.
