Bengaluru, Jan 20: Even as the Supreme Court granted a conditional bail to former minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, who gained fame as the Ballari mining lord, the Siddaramaiah regime decided to implement a Rs 204.50 crore Ballari package.
The decision to implement the Rs 204.50 crore Ballari package was announced by Karnataka’s Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
By a strange coincidence, the State Government’s announcement on implementing the mega Ballari package came on the day the apex court granted conditional bail to Reddy, who was jailed in 2011.
Under the Supreme Court’s decision, Reddy would be released from bail from Parappana Agrahara subject to the condition that he would not visit his home district of Ballari or Cuddapah or do anything to tamper with evidence in the cases against him.
Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya said the package, including grant of subsidized loans and construction of schools, would be implemented expeditiously.
