More such offices are planned to be commissioned in other places in the near future, he said.

Sharjah has an AI Express call centre which is operating from 7 am to 10 pm (06- 5970303), he added.

Online Visa facility :

Shyam Sundar also announced that AI Express is in talks with the UAE authorities to provide online visit services for UAE-bound passengers from India. The service, which is expected to be launched before March end 2015, will facilitate passengers to apply for Visa online through Air India Express website.

Current performace and future plans :

Presently AI Express operates over 100 flights per week from UAE connecting 9 cities in India. With a fleet size of 17 aircraft, AI Express has carried about 2 million passengers in the current financial year upto December 2014. It is projected that passenger carriage will touch 2.6 million by the close of fiscal year.

Shyam Sundar said that there will be an increase in the fleet from current 17 aircraft to 20 by early 2016, and five more will be added by 2016 summer schedule This will provide an opportunity for flights to operate on the new sectors as well as have additional flights in the existing sector.

During the last financial year, AI Express has made a small operational profit, but more revenue is expected during 2014-15 financial year due to decrease in fuel prices.

Melvin D'Silva, Air India's regional manager for Gulf and Middle East addressed the press conference and said that Air India and AI Express are jointly operating 300 flights per week to the Middle East region, out of which 175-180 flights are dedicated to UAE sector alone, which means AI operates more than 60% of these flights in the UAE.

Abdul Waheed of Arabian Travels, Prem Sagar, manager Air India for Dubai and Northern Emirates were also present at the press meet.

Thank you AI Express for the direct flights. I suggest we have a flight to Mangaluru on Friday early morning instead of Thursday early morning. The baggage allowance should be minimum 30 kg. I don't see any genuine reason why you restrict the allowance to 20 kg and then allow additional 10kgs by overcharging passengers. The seats need your immediate attention. They are like sitting on a steel chair. I wonder how you are given flying clearance with such pathetic seats. At least provide a pillow to sit on if you aren't giving immediate attention.

The days on which flights are announced are inconvenient to passengers. There should have been a flight atleast on Friday morning instead of Thursday morning. The condition of the flight seats and food are pathetic. Flights doesn't fly on time on most cases. AI should focus on improvements on these fronts. The timing / day of flights will not help most of the passengers as most passengers prefer flying on Thursday night and return on Saturday night. Why can't they have daily flights?

This is good news for sure but why doesnt someone see the pathetic state of the seats and service of the airline. Its difficult to sit on the seats for 30 mins. there is no cushion at all.I think many people will agree with me.

Hope they are not fooling us early, timing given does not indicate it is direct to either cities. May on one route yes...like while coming it is direct from M'lore to AD, while going it is direct from Muscat to M'lore. I also agree with Indian comment M'lore has no connectivity within India, even though a internation airport is built for years now. Must be some hidden things!!! Like other cities they should also open up private operators to fly between other cities (incl. AD & Muscat, Kuwait etc) I see many travellers would support this.

It seems that there is some error in report. IXE-MCT sector timing indicates via Abu Dhabi(more than 3 hours). If so where is the question of non-stop flight to Muscat?

I have booked 3 tickets based on the announced timings earlier. The fight lands in Muscat at 8.50 am on Sundays after March 2015. AIE, I hope you will not change the timings now.

GOOD NEWS !!! what the heck !!!

There are no direct flights from Mangalore to Major Cities in our country itself. People are obsessed with Dubai n Muscat NON STOP Flight !!! (though there is Pit stop for the existing flights)
we dont have connectivity within our country only. we are connecting with others.

Good to know the news of AI EXpress. One thing need of the hour is maintenance of flights : the seats are worry concern because of bad condition, the springs of the seats are pinching one can feel like injection when we sit all of sudden for little breath, good experience. Hope the parts of aircraft machine is all in good condition, when we see the condition of inside little doubt of condition and gives bad impression of the company AIEXPR, anyhow finally we are reaching fast as world is in fast track mood these days.
