Bantwal, Jan 17: In an incident which occurred at Konimar in Sajipanadu village in Bantwal taluk recently, a man tried to kill his own son. He also assaulted his second wife and her brother, when they tried to protect the boy. The injured youngster got admitted into government hospital here.
It is said that the assaulter, identified as Abdul Sattar S K from Konimar in Sajipanadu village in Bantwal taluk, has married thrice. The boy who faced his anger is the son of his second wife, identified as Abu Twahir (17).
Both Abu Twahir and his mother said in their complaint that Sattar was angry at the fact that his son was following religious education at Muhimmath Institute in Kerala. They said Sattar repeatedly pestered his son to join institutions run by Samastha Kerala Sunni Students Federation. They said Sattar happens to be a drunkard and became violent often against wife and children.
The boy said that Sattar married his mother although he already had first wife and six children. Through the second marriage, he got four children. He married third time, and got two more children. After he drove him and his mother from house, they started living in his mother's parental home in Karambaru in Beltangady taluk. He said his father had not come to see when his paternal grandfather died 40 days back, nor was he looking after the family. Because of pestering by Sattar, the boy said, he left his earlier institution and joined Ayiti mosque in Payyannur.
He explained that he, his mother, and maternal uncle had visited Sajipanadu to see his younger brothers, when his father suddenly attacked him with iron chair and stick. When his mother and her brother, Abbas, tried to shield him, he said, his father assaulted them too.
