Kundapur, Jan 15: Relating to the disturbances and communal clashes which occurred on Sunday at Halavalli in Kody near here, the police made four more arrests on Wednesday January 14.
With this, the number of arrests relating to the case has gone up to 10, as six were arrested on Tuesday.
The police had on Sunday January 11 arrested six persons, out of whom Zakir, Sadvik, Arshad and Abdul Rahiman were arrested relating to the flare up at Kodi and Ranjan and Rakesh were held for the assualt of an innocent youth following the clashes.
All the ten arrested were released on bail on Wednesday itself.
Two groups youth belonging to different communities indulged in clashes near the old estuary in Kodi on Sunday night, after which Bharat (17) and Ranjit (22) from Halavalli were admitted to a private hospital here with serious injuries. A large number of youngsters had gathered in front of the hospital then. A person named Muhammed Awaiz (17), who had visited the hospital to buy medicines, was assaulted by some youth in the group, after which he was hospitalized. A case relating to this incident was registered in the police station here. Also, three others - Ashida, Abdul, and a lady named Jalaja were also injured and admitted to hospital.
