Kundapur, Jan 11: Two persons were seriously injured after clahes broke out between members of different communities at Kodi here on Sunday January 11.

The clashes broke out near Kinara hotel at Halavalli in Kodi. Bharat (17) and Ranjith (17) were serioudly injured and admitted to a private hospital in Kundapur. Two others, identified as Ashida Ahmed and Abdul Munaf have also been admitted to hospital.

As per the complaint, a group of around 25 persons assaulted Bharat and Ranjith with soda bottles. Some of the accused have been identified as Mayadi Bin Ibrahim Halealive, Farooz Bin Rafiq, Galfi Bin Mirji Saheb, Ashfaq Ganti, Malik Kulla, Ashif Gaddemane, Shahid, Shajid, Latif Khan Mohammed, Intiyan, Irshad and Rahim Beary.

On the other hand, Ashida and Abdul who got admitted to hospital alleged that they were assualted by a group of youths while they were returning from a relative's house where they had been to pay back some loan amount. They alleged that the assault was in connection with another incident wherein a girl of their community was teased by some youths.

The injured persons said that an old rivalry between the two groups had led to the assault. Sometime back, trouble had erupted after a bike belonging to one Deepak was smashed during 'Gendaseve' at Jattigeshwara Temple in Kodi. After that, a conflict was witnessed after some right wing outfit hoisted its flag at Halealive. Sunday's clashes were a consequence of these episodes, said Hindu Jagarana Vedike convener Dhananjay Kundapur.

Following the clashes, tension gripped Kodi and personnel of the armed reserve police were deployed in the area. Higher officials visited the spot.

In addition to Bharat, Ranjith, Ashida and Abdul, two more persons, identified as Jalaja and Mohammed Awaiz, have been admitted to Chinmayi hospital in Kundapur.

Out of the six admitted, the state of three persons is said to be serious.

It is said that Jalaja was trying to calm down the fighting groups. She later complained that she lost her mangalsutra and sustained injuries on her neck during the fight.

Mohammed Awaiz who was taking medicines to one of his relatives at Chinmayi hospital was attacked by a group of people and sustained injuries on his head.

Small incidents of stone pelting have been reported in Kodi.

SP Annamlai has visited Kodi as well as the hospitals where the injutred have been admitted. The women from Kodi have complained to the SP about the security of women and children in Kodi. SP in turn has promised that a police check post with three personnel will be established in Kodi within two days.

Security has been beefed up in Kodi with the deployment of district reserve police. Police have recorded statements from both the parties.

Kundapur police have registered cases from both parties and investigations are on.

    Mr. Sid,

If your near one walking down the road and some miscreant(irrespective of religion) will teas, taunt or will trouble her. Even at that moment you will blame government or will go for her defence?

It seems Newtons third law has been taken place in this incident.

PEOPLE OF EVERY RELIGION ARE SO CONVINCED THAT ONLY THEIR RELIGION IS THE RIGHT CHOICE. BUT I DON’T SEE THEM ASK FOR MUSLIM BLOOD, OR HINDU BLOOD OR CHRISTIAN BLOOD AT A BLOOD BANK IN CASE OF ANY EMERGENCY. THEY ASK FOR EITHER ONE UNIT OF O- OR TWO UNITS OF A AND SO ON. WHY DO THEY FAIL TO REMEMBER RELIGION ONLY AT MEDICAL EMERGENCIES AND NOT AT OTHER DAY TO DAY LIFE SITUATIONS???

Any organization that fans communal passion to be banned in the country, otherwise more such crimes will happen in future. These organizations have succeeded in dividing people on communal lines.Hate mongers should not have any place in the society.

We cant blame these guys. Real culprits are those who provocate.

Kallajith like antisocial should be pushed out of the state by imposing goonda act.

Bajranga dal,PFI,VHP should be banned in the state.

No one should be allowed for provocative speech.

    People,

What happened here is not good for either sides...looks like here 2 youths of majority are beaten badly by minority...and 2 minority youths have admitted to hospital for tactical reasons...

Finally both sides will loose here...nobody will win...

Best thing is sit together and resolve all disputes peacefully...like mature adults..

Now we can expect usual comments by our commentators with party affiliations and religion...

Religion is more addictive than narcotics here...most agree/disagree based on party affiliations and religion here...sad but true...

An elaborate communal harmony program should be monitored by keeping the elected bodies to educate people to stop the communal clashes among the youth.
