Mangaluru, Jan 11: The much-awaited Patrao Musical Nite was a great success with a huge crowd turning up to witness the event.
The Konkani musical extravaganza was hosted by Royal Friends Club, Karambar on the joyous occasion of its silver jubilee year at St Joseph college ground, Bajpe on Saturday, January 10 evening. The nite was also a fundraiser for St Antony Chapel, Antonykatte Bajpe.
Ivan Mathias welcomed all the dignitaries on the dias. Fr Melwyn D'Souza, parish priest of Adyapady, Walter Monteiro, vice president of the parish council, Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief and founder of daijiworld and Fr Gerald Pinto were present on the dais.
Sangeeth Samrat Henry D'Souza, Patrao Brothers John and Anil Patrao, 'Golden voice of Konkani' fame Rony D'Cunha, and master of ceremony Leslie Rego were felicitated by the organizers during the event.
It was a rare occasion with many greats of Konkani music performing together. Patrao Brothers John and Anil, 'Sangeet Samrat' Henry D'Souza, 'Golden voice of Konkani' Rony D'Cunha, Anitha D'Souza, Ivy D'souza, Rony Crasta, Denora Fernandes, Marina Veigas Gavin Menezes and others performed in the show. Songs like 'Noven voras ailam', 'Ye go baye', 'Yegeeth', 'Chondrem udevn ailo', 'Don thembe dukha', and 'Ami dogi sezara' (sung by Rony and Henry) among other songs stole the hearts of the crowd.
Music troupe 'Trinity' led by Sachin Sequeira rendered music.Popular comedy group 'Comedy company' of Nellu, Mellu, Richie, Sunil, Shawn and Jagathpal performed their special comedy skits to make the crowd laugh non-stop.
'Thunder Guys' Bajpe entertained the dance buffs with their dances. Brother Hector Pinto and other guests from Australia were honoured on the occasion. The Australians sang two songs. Organizers Gratian Mathias, Felix Mathias, Stephen Mathias, and Alwyn Mathias were present during the event among others.
The event was compered by compere par excellence, the inimitable Leslie Rego.
