Kasargod, Jan 2: The narcotic cell police have succeeded in taking one of the persons, who had succeeded in escaping from the raiding party when the police had tried to catch hold of some people involved with ganja trafficking sometime back, into custody.
The arrested person has been identified as Riaz (32) from Periyatadka. When Kumble police, acting on information, had raided a gang involved with ganja sale, the gang had escaped in a car after abandoning a Tata Sumo vehicle with four kilograms of ganja about a month back.
In addition to Riaz, Muhammed from Kumble Chayikatte, Aravind from Manjeshwar, and Ashraf from Arikkady had run away on the above occasion, the policemen said.
Riaz has been named as accused in over 40 cases relating to murder, robbery, vehicle theft etc. Two years back, he had escaped from Kannur central jail, but was arrested. This is the second time that he had escaped from the police, but got caught again.
