Mangaluru, Jan 1: In spite of restrictions placed by the city commissionerate about timings, banning of new year parties in public places etc, the city bathed in celebrations as the year 2014 faded into oblivion, and paved way for the dawn of new year, 2015. At the stroke of midnight, the city erupted in joy and dazzling fireworks lit the night sky everywhere.
A number of hotels and resorts organized new year parties, where the people had food, drinks, music, and danced to their hearts content. Kids could not be confined to beds, as they too wanted to welcome the new year in partnership with senior members of the family. Age was no bar, as a number of aged people were seen gyrating to popular music at these parties.
Presence of police personnel was conspiscuous at strategic points in the city and also near the hotels hosting large-scale parties. No untoward incidents were reported, even though youngsters were seen speeding through the city streets in their two-wheelers, heralding the advent of the new year and sharing their joy with city dwellers.
The new year eve however, was not without its share of disappointments, though. The police stopped a party named 'Terror Party' by Team RDX at Lobo River near Morgan's Gate from going ahead with the party, as the organizers did not reportedly possess proper documents. In another case, the Dakshina Kannada district administration's attempt to organize Karavali Utsav party was also foiled for unknown reasons.

May the new year bring hopes in your lives, brighten your future, improve your health, and prove to be a rewarding year to one and all, besides strengthening the bond between Daijiworld and everyone of you.
