Daijiword Media Network - Mangaluru (CLP)

Mangaluru, Dec 29: An engineering student allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room here on Monday December 29.

Poornima, a second year civil engineering student of Srinivas College, is the deceased.

Police sources said that she was in room number 405 of Srinivas College hostel with three others girls.

It is said that on Monday morning, two of her roommates went to class while Poornima stayed behind. Another roommate is said to be away on holidays.

When her roommates returned to the hostel after class hours in the evening, they found the door of the room locked from the inside. They knocked repeatedly and called out for Poornima, but there was no response.

They then alerted the others, and the door was broken down. Poornima was found hanging from the fan.

The reason for taking the extreme step is not yet known.

Bunder police have registered a case.

By killing self you are killing the hardwork/sacrifises of parents in bringing you up. IF you find course is difficult or facing any other problems there are ways to deal with it.

    RIP departed soul!!

Nowadays, due to societal pressures most parents want their wards to pursue engg. degree despite them being not at all capable of pursuing it today, in Mangluru, if you ask any parent what your child is pursuing you can be pretty confident that 'engg' will be the answer due to the excess capacity generated by TDH institutions!!

Admitting students, who are weak in math and allied subjects with just 45% marks, into full fledged engg. courses is utter madness, because even if they pass out somehow they would find it uphill to get absorbed in the field due to lack of aptitude and marks and land up doing some BPO or allied jobs!!

Thee is one way these suicide deaths can be avoided and that is by having regular counseling sessions in schools and colleges.
