25-year-old youth from Moodbidri dies in Goa accident

Mangaluru, Dec 29: A youth from Moodbidri who was seriously injured in an accident in Goa a few days ago passed away on the night of Sunday December 28.

Madhusudan Nayak (25) from Kallabettu met with an accident in Goa on December 18.

Son of Sarvottam Nayak and Sharada Pai, Madhusudan was undergoing training at a shipping company in Goa.

The accident took place when a car rammed into his bike. A seriously injured Madhusudan was admitted to hospital in Goa. After battling for life for 10 days, he breathed his last on Sunday night.

Madhusudan had rendered his services to Kallabettu Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti as its vice-president. He was also an active member of Moodbidri Mitravrinda.

His mortal remains are expected to be brought to Kallabettu soon.

    Goans drive carefully mostly as far as I have observed, knowing the limitations of their narrow roads.

    In all probability, the car that hit Madhusudan would be one of those hired ones used by reckless tourists.

    I have seen them behave as if Goa was handed over to them by their fathers and they are allowed to do anything they please while the locals try to be nice to them.

    There has to be stricter traffic laws, ESPECIALLY for tourists. Impounding of the vehicle and confiscation of the license with heavy fine should be implemented.
