Mangaluru, Dec 15: "People gave mandate to Congress party in Dakshina Kannada (in Assembly elections) against BJP's fundamentalism and corruption. But BJP and Congress are two faces of the same coin," said Ravikrishna Reddy, state spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
He was addressing a press meet at AAP office here on Monday December 15.
Commenting on moral policing and the communal tension in the district, he said, "Repeated incidents of moral policing have given bad name to the city. The Congress government has failed to encourage progressive thoughts among people and thereby prevent communal violence and moral policing."
Congratulating deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim on his good administration, he said, "Ministers of this district have failed to provide good administration. Taking the initiative himself, the deputy commissioner is doing good work in the district."
Informing that the district unit of AAP would emerge again, he said, "The AAP is forming committees at all levels following the model of internal democracy. Under the name of Mission Vistar, independent observers are appointing the committees. Even in Karnataka independent observers will be announcing district and state committees. This will increase the party's activities."
He also said that within two weeks, a new DK district committee will be formed.
Dr Mercy Pinto demanded that the state government immediately appoint a commissioner for Mangalore City Corporation.
Rohan Shiri and Alexander D' Souza were present.
