Bengaluru, Dec 14: In a tragic incident which occurred at Konasandra near Jigani in Anekal taluk near here, a man killed his wife and three children by setting them on fire after soaking them in kerosene. The man then torched himself. The entire family except three little children who live away perished as a result on the night of Saturday, December 13.
The deceased are Fayaz Pasha (36), his wife, Reshma alias Kavita (26), childlren, Mahabub (5), Usma (2), and Adil alias Sadiq (11 months).
Fayaz used to work as a worker doing painting work. At around 7.30 pm on Saturday, after reaching home, he sprinkled kerosene on his family members and set them on fire. All of them started to wail, unable to bear the agony of getting burnt. When the neighbours came running and started to knock at his door, Fayaz, overwhelmed by the unexpected turn of events, started to slice his neck with a knife initially, and then suddenly set himself on fire, it is gathered.
The family of Fayaz had rented out the house belonging to a local named Krishnappa and shifted to this new residence just four days back. Fayaz was from Sira taluk in Tumkur district, and had left his three children in the house of his elder brother at Haragadde there. As a result, three children of the family survived from certain death.
It is said that Fayaz was in constant friction with his family after falling in love and marrying Kavita from another religion. It is said that he left his native place on account of this tension and also because of penury.
It is being analyzed that family feud and poverty, and the need to feed so many members of the family with meagre wages earned by him would have taken a toll on him.
Jigani police have registered a case.
