Mangaluru, Dec 12: Sri Rama Sene will hold a massive rally on December 15 against cow slaughter and to create awareness on the need to protect cattle. The protest will also seek to urge the state government to ban cow slaughter.
This was announced by Sri Rama Sene divisional president Anand Shetty Adyar at a press meet here on Friday December 12.
The 'Save Me' rally will be flagged off from Dr Ambedkar Circle at 10.30 am, and will culminated at DC's office, where a convention will be held.
The procession will consist of a tableau depicting cattle and the significance of cow in Hindu society.
Anand Shetty further informed that swamijis and religious heads from various parts of the country will attend the rally. Over 2,000 activists are expected to take part, he added.
The convention will be addressed by Sri Sri Siddalinga Swamiji of Andola Math, Jewargi, Gulbarga, who is also the working president of Sri Rama Sene. Shailesh Holla of Kamadhenu Trust, Bengaluru, Praveen Valke, SRS state chief secretary, Mahesh Koppa, SRS south province president, Kamalamma, state president of Durga Sene, and others will be present.
A memorandum will be submitted to the state government through the DC against cow slaughter and cattle trafficking and other anti-Hindu activities, and urge for the ban on cow slaughter, said Anand Shetty.
Jeevan Kumar Neermarga, Guru Pandeshwar, Narayana K, Venkatesh Padiyar and others were present.
Press 'Meat'
Interestingly, the banner put up by Sri Rama Sene at the press meet read, 'Press Meat'. Whether it was an honest mistake or a deliberate attempt to drive home the point, no one knew, but it did make for quite an eye-catching banner!
