Mangaluru, Dec 11: The new block of Mount Carmel Central School was inaugurated and blessed at its premises in Maryhill here on Thursday December 11. The School's new auditorium, named after Mother Veronica, too was inaugurated on the same occasion.
Fr Santhosh Kamath of Fathima Retreat House blessed the new block and the auditorium.
Superior general of Apostolic Carmel congregation Sr M Susheela inaugurated the new block by cutting the ribbon, while president of Nitte Education Trust N Vinaya Hegde inaugurated the auditorium.
Addressing the gathering, Vinaya Hegde said, "I feel privileged to be here. During my walks I used to visit this place often, and now it gives me great pleasure to be here for the inaugural of the new block.
"This insitution provides quality education that focuses on the holistic development of children, be it academics or sports. This school is unique and inspiring," he added.
As an advice to the students, he said, "In life, what is more important is being useful to society. We are indebted to our Alma Mater. Wherever you go, whichever line you choose, do not forget your Alma Mater."
Sr Susheela said, "I am happy to be part of this occasion. In just six years, this school has built all the infrastructure required for the overall development of children. This block and the auditorium were a part of a big dream, which have been realized today. This auditorium will be useful to showcase god-given talents."
Sr Susheela released Mount Carmel school magazine 'Carmel Inspires' on the occasion.
Architect of the new block Sunil Kumar and contractor Dr Sanjeeva Dandakeri were felicitated. Student achievers were also honoured.
The children of Mount Carmel school invoke divine blessings and performed Bharatanatyam. Sr Melissa welcomed the guests.
Rebecca Albuquerque, Soumya, Sumita, Sulaiman and Fiona Saldanha conducted the proceedings. Richa Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.
Sr Carissima, Sr Lydia, Sr Vimala Paul, Sr Ida Barboza and others were present.
The new block consists of the auditorium and classes from nursery to third standard.
