Mangaluru, Dec 7: Over 2,000 cyclists filled the streets of the city on Sunday December 7, as the eighth annual Hercules RxLife Cycle Rally organized by Svasti RxLife Trust was kick - off early morning.
The rally was flagged of at 6.30 am from Ladyhill circle and concluded at 9.30 am at Amrita Vidyalayam School grounds, Boloor.
More than 2,200 participants in the age group of 10 - 83 pedalled a distance of 18 km, passing through Ladyhill - Kuloor - Tannirbavi - Kottara - Urwa Stores - Ashoknagar - Hoigebail - Battery.
The rally was inaugurated by city police commissioner R Hitendra and flagged off by S Mukund Kamath of Ideal Group, K Ullas Kamath of Jyothi Laboratories, Bangalore, and Beneesh, ASM, TI Cycles of India, Chennai.
Nine cycles were handed over to lucky riders:
Ramachandra Rao - Eldest male rider aged 85 years old
Dr Smitha - Eldest female rider
Shruthi - Volunteer’s Lucky draw
Adithya Tej from Cambridge School
Nikhil from Ashoka Vidyalaya
Mohammad Suhail from Narayan Guru School
S Yuthika from Ladyhill
Mohammad Ishran from Manipal School
Om B Ghetia from St Aloysius
The highlight of the rally was that police commissioner pedalled the 18 kilometers along with his family.
A stunt cycling show was also organized at Amrita Vidyalayam.
The event was sponsored by Hercules, Ideal Ice cream, MRPL, Karnataka Bank and HPCL.
Members of Team Managlore, YHAI and SICASA joined hands with Mangalore police in smooth functioning of this rally.
