The Hague, Dec 1 (IANS): Ajax Amsterdam failed to beat ADO Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie, while FC Twente suffered a rare home defeat against FC Groningen.
The clash between league leaders PSV and Feyenoord was expected to be played Sunday afternoon, but the match was postponed because PSV had to play the remainder of Thursday' s Europa League encounter with Portuguese side GD Estoril Praia (3-3) Friday afternoon, reports Xinhua.
According to rules of the Dutch football association KNVB teams should have a rest period of at least 48 hours between two games. A new date has not been set yet for the top of the table clash.
Due to the postponed match of PSV, current number two Ajax - the reigning champions, had the chance to temporarily take over first place with a win at ADO Den Haag.
Davy Klaassen handed Ajax an early lead at The Hague, but five minutes from time Eredivisie top scorer Michiel Kramer earned the home-team the equaliser with his 10 goal of the season with the match ending 1-1.
FC Twente suffered their first home defeat since March 10, 2013, against Vitesse (0-1). After 27 home games without a loss in the Dutch league FC Twente lost 1-2 against FC Groningen Sunday.
Michael de Leeuw and Tjaronn Chery scored for FC Groningen, who played the last nine minutes with 10 men after a red card for striker Danny Hoesen. Luc Castaignos produced Twente' s consolation goal in the final minutes, his ninth of the season.
Also Sunday, PEC Zwolle crushed Excelsior 5-0 in Rotterdam.
