Villa footballers cheer Keane's departure

London, Nov 30 (IANS): Aston Villa players broke into a cheer in the dressing room after news of the English football club assistant manager Roy Keane's departure.

According to the Sunday People, Villa footballers started applauding after the former Manchester United captain's exit was confirmed Friday.

The Irishman said he needed to spend more time with his family and doubling up his commitments with Villa and the Irish national team was proving too much for him.

Keane's exit, though, failed to inspire the team as they could only manage a 1-1 draw away to lowly Burnley Saturday.

Manager Paul Lambert was booed by the travelling Villa supporters.

"I heard it. These guys pay their money and I have absolutely no problem with it. This football club is massive and the expectancy level is huge," Lambert was quoted as by the British tabloid.
