Rio de Janeiro, Nov 11 (IANS): Brazil football coach Dunga has handed an international call-up to Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca for friendlies against Turkey and Austria.
The 20-year-old replaces Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Lucas, who has been ruled out of the matches with a foot injury, reports Xinhua.
"I don't know how to describe the way I felt when I heard the news," Talisca was quoted saying by Brazilian newspaper O Globo.
"It feels like I'm dreaming. It's a great opportunity to show what I can do, apart from being a great privilege. I hope to wear the shirt with honour by working as hard as I can."
Lucas is the second player to be cut from Dunga's squad for the friendlies in Vienna Wednesday and Istanbul six days later.
Last week Spartak Moscow midfielder Romulo was omitted due to a calf injury.
Talisca has made an instant impression for Benfica since his July move from Brazil's Bahia for four million euros.
The playmaker has already scored nine goals in 14 matches, reportedly attracting interests from Manchester United and Juventus.
