Kundapur, Oct 18: Honeybees from a beehive hanging from a roadside tree launched an attack on a motor bike rider all of a sudden on Friday October 17. The motor bike rider, who was shocked at this sudden onslaught, fell on the road and suffered grave injuries. He was later admitted into a hospital.

A huge beehive is located on a tree standing by the side of Sindhur Ice Plant on Nayakwadi-Mullikatte Road in the taluk. Perhaps, the honeybees had been agitated after a vehicle brushed against their beehive while passing through the road. The bees which swarmed out, then attacked Siddique, a resident of Sultan Mohalla in Gangolli, who was moving on his motor bike on this road towards Kundapur. Siddique fell from the bike, but was followed by the bees which continued to sting him.

Fayaz and Shahul Hameed from Gangolli, who were coming by that road in an auto rickshaw, saw Siddique and stopped their vehicle. When they tried to help the victim, the bees also stung them. Siddique was later taken to Gangolli and Kundapur hospitals before being shifted to Manipal for advanced treatment.
