Kasargod, Oct 9: In a tragic accident, a college student died after falling from a moving train at Kumble, on Tuesday evening October 7 and the dead body was found in the morning on October 8.
The deceased has been identified as Ahmed Shabeeb(20), resident of Shifa land near Korakkodu Bilal Masjid.
He was a student of first year interior designing at Sridevi College in Mangalore. His dead body was
found in a bush near Kumble bridge.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at about 4.30 when he accidentally fell from the train
when he was returning to Kasargod from Mangalore in Chennai Mail along with his companions.
Shabeeb had gone to wash his face when the train reached Uppala. When he did not return even after a long time, his friends started searching for him. Meanwhile, a passenger told that he has seen a person falling down from the train. The train had reached Kasargod by then.
His friends and companions got down at Kasargod and searched for him on railway tracks. Police and fire brigade were also informed. The search was conducted in Kumble, Shiriya, Muttam and Peruvad railway tracks and nearby bushes beside lakes in Kumble, Shiriya and Mogral.
Nearly 300 locals, Police and Fire brigade staff were involved in search operations. The search continued till 4 am.
Later, a local fisherman saw the dead body in the bushes at 6.30 am and informed the police immediately. The police lifted the body and afterwards sent it for postmortem to Kasargod general hospital.
It is learnt that there were many marks of injury on his head and body.
Shabeeb had gone to the college on Tuesday after celebrating Bakrid feast at home. He is the son of K A Mohammed Shareef Valleyball and C H Balkis. He has brothers and sisters named Shaheem, Suraipa, Salina, Shahas and Shasim.
