Mangalore, Oct 8: The Panambur police succeeded in decoding the team of three chain snatchers on Tuesday October 7, operating in Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod.
While police from Panambur station were investigating the snatching case filed by Ashalata Bangera on September 24, in which she alleged two bike riders snatched her chain from her neck on the pretext of asking directions of road at Bikampady, nabbed three in connection to the case.
The police learnt that the they were involved in 12 cases across two districts and seized 400 grams of gold of worth Rs 11 lacs, briefed R Hitendra, city police commissioner. He said that 12 chains and three motor bikes of worth Rs 3 lac were seized in the case.
The arrested were identified as Zakir Hussain (23), Mumbai, Mohammad Rizwan (23), Bajal and Irshad (28), resident of Permannur Village. However, Zakir flew to Mangalore from Mumbai as his relatives were stationed in the city, he added.
With this arrest, the police cleared as many as 12 cases filed in various police stations in the district and in Kasargod. The arrest operation was carried out by Panambur police under the direction of commissioner Hitendra and deputy commissioners, Jagadish and Vishnuvardhan.
