Asiad: Sania-Prarthana win women's doubles tennis bronze

Incheon, Sep 28 (IANS): Indian women's doubles tennis pair of Sania Mirza and Prarthana Thombare settled for the bronze medal after losing the semi-final match in the 17th Asian Games at the Yeorumul Tennis Courts here Sunday.

Sania-Prarthana lost 6-7 (1-7), 6-2, 4-10 in a super tie-breaker to second seeded Chinese Taipei's Wei Chin Chan and Wei Su Hsieh.

The fifth seeded Indian pair fought well in the first set with their more fancied opponents, forcing them to a tie-breaker. But they conceded a substantial lead early in the tie-breaker, losing 1-7.

Sania and Prarthana fought back to square the contest, clinching the second set 6-2, and just when it looked like they were building on the momentum gained after clinching the second set, they went off-the-boil in the super tie-breaker and easily succumbed 4-10.
