Kuala Lumpur to host ICC WCL Division 3

Dubai, Sep 23 (IANS): The International Cricket Council (ICC) Tuesday announced that the World Cricket League (WCL) Division 3 has been shifted from Uganda to Malaysia due to security reasons and will be held from Oct 23 to 30.

The tournament, which was earlier scheduled to take place from Oct 26 to Nov 2, will feature Bermuda, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Uganda and the United States.

"The safety and security of players and officials is of paramount importance to the ICC and despite the excellent cooperation received from the Ugandan government and the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA), due to recent events beyond the control of ICC and UCA, we were ultimately uncertain if a secure environment could still be provided," ICC chief executive David Richardson said in a statement.

"Thankfully, the Malaysian Cricket Association has offered to host the tournament at short notice and based on previous experience, we anticipate a successful event in Kuala Lumpur."
